this is a brand new remington 597 .22 rifle. reason for selling is that i have 2 others that are set up for hunting and this has been my spare up until now, but the others have proven to be so damn reliable that this one doesn't get used so time to free up some space in the gun cabinet.

these are known as the "yellow jacket" model for fairly obvious visual reasons, as well as being a promotional vehicle at the time of release for remington's new "yellow jacket ammo".

modelled on the olympic shooting team .22 with a heavy fully floated bull barrel, these are incredibly accurate and are perfect for both hunting or target shooting.

this one is threaded for a silencer. i have another one identical to this one that i use for hunting, and despite the heavy solid bull barrel, its extra weight is nicely offset by the hollowed out stock, making it an excellent, light, and easy to handle hunting rifle.

unlike sporter models, the bull barrel doesnt heat up as fast under rapid fire as rabbits and game scatter, and accordingly every shot goes exactly where you intend it. my kill rate is always better with this than more lightweight "sporter" style rifles.

these also have a real fun factor to them that other rifles just dont seem to have, and although i take several different rifles, when i go hunting, my "yellow jacket" is always one of them. without doubt the gun i use the most for both rabbits and possums. they have an excellent solid feel to them.

they also feature last round bolt hold open, which is a bloody handy feature, and while this model does not come with iron sights, they come with two glass options - a dovetail rail as well as being taped ready for a picitinny rail and scope.

this has the 3rd generation metal magazine, which solved the feed problems of earlier generation 1 and 2 magazines.
