All Blacks captain, Richie McCaw is known for his love of aviation and is an experienced glider pilot. Taking time out of his preparations for next years Rugby World Cup, he invites you to join him in the cockpit of a high performance glider for a personal adventure in to the extreme world of high altitude aviation.
As your personal instructor, Richie will greet you at the airfield, brief you on the two seat aircraft, its controls and what to expect during the flight. The aim of the flight is to safely introduce you to the sport of gliding so you can evaluate your interest in the sport and decide if you are interested in continuing glider pilot training. There will be a chance for you take the controls and pilot the high performance glider yourself.
Once safely back on the ground, Richie will do a flight de-briefing and answer any questions you have on flying, the All Blacks, and that elusive World Cup.
This is your opportunity to spend one-on-one time with the captain of the All Blacks, the man NZ is relying on to bring home the 2011 Rugby World Cup. You get to meet him, you get to be briefed and trained by him in a sporting discipline that requires skill, knowledge, and attention to detail. You get to share a flight with him in to the extreme world of high altitude aviation. Have you got the right stuff?
Proceeds from this auction will be split 70 / 30 between the Hororata St Johns Church, and the Canterbury Gliding Club. The church requires expensive restoration work following the recent 7.1 magnitude earthquake and the gliding club is raising funds to assist with the clubs relocation to a new airfield at Springfield.
