Kidz First Children's Hospital, based at Middlemore Hospital, Manukau City, opened in December 2000. It offers both regional and national health services. It has 82 inpatient beds and its own Emergency Department. Over 11,000 children are admitted to Kidz First each year. Our current project is fundraising to raise $1.5m to equip a specialised kid's area in the new Intensive Care Unit, currently under construction. The new paediatric beds will be slightly separated from the general ICU. Whilst still receiving comprehensive critical care, the paediatric bed spaces will have additional space to allow a parent or caregiver to stay with their child. These new facilities, coupled with a dedicated team of staff will ensure our children and their families receive the very best of care.
