About the Store
Toyplanet’s Trade Me store now offers our massive toy range to customers shopping on Trademe! Browsing our Trade Me listings is a fun way to search and compare toys and products and find something for children of all ages and abilities.
Toyplanet has the largest number of toys for sale online in New Zealand. We price our stock with the aim of having the lowest price in New Zealand on all of our toys everyday of the year. We don’t do junk, knock-offs, fakes or unbranded toys. The toys we sell are sourced from quality New Zealand toy wholesalers and the majority of our customers are parents buying quality toys for their own children. By selling quality toys we have very few returns and this allows us to keep our prices very low. On the rare occasions that a toy you have purchased from us is faulty, we have the support of quality wholesalers to help us resolve the issue.
Toyplanet’s three Auckland megastores are co-located with Toyhire, New Zealand’s largest toy rental company. We also have a third ‘boutique’ toy company called The Great New Zealand Toy Store that sells New Zealand themed items and toys.
The items we hire are generally only available in Auckland as they are large. Toyplanet’s items for sale are available throughout New Zealand and we export these toys on a case by case basis. The Great New Zealand Toys Store items are available throughout New Zealand and the world. Every item that we sell is available online and can also be purchased through Trademe. If you can’t find a specific toy you want on Trademe please ask us for it and we’ll create a special auction just for you.
We stock and sell over 6000 different toys in our stores but we only list around 1000 - 2000 on Trade Me at any one time. When stock levels fall below a certain threshold we don’t list these items on Trade Me to avoid out of stock situations. If there is an item that you would like to buy but you can’t find it on Trade Me please ask us to create a special auction just for you.
We are also able to source, import and distribute commercial quantities of quality toys for companies or special events. Special pricing can be negotiated for these pallet or container sized large orders.
Toyplanet will keep you informed throughout the transaction. We’ll let you know when your payment has been received and your order entered into our system for despatch. We leave feedback once on all transactions.
Toyplanet will provide you with excellent customer service. If you have a question, query or even a complaint please do contact us before placing neutral or negative feedback. Most concerns can be resolved quickly to everyone’s satisfaction.
Our Best Advice
After you win an auction the best and our preferred way to receive your delivery address is through the auction page or your Items I won page. You can also include any special delivery instructions. This method reduces addressing errors and speeds up the whole despatch process as your address goes automatically into our despatching system. Even if you haven’t yet made payment sending your address as soon as possible is greatly appreciated.
Two other ways to speed up your order are using Pay Now and choosing a delivery address where the parcel can be received during business hours. Often it is better to get items sent to your or your partner’s work address. If you put your home address and you are not home when the courier tries to deliver a calling card will be left. Please note if you give us instructions to leave a parcel without getting a signature then both Toyplanet and our courier companies will not accept any claim if the parcel goes missing.
Payment is due within 5 days. If you are combining items to take advantage of our flat rate shipping (one fee whether you purchase 1 or 100 products together) payment is due no later than 5 days after the close of the first purchase.
Toyplanet accepts Pay Now via TradeMe. When purchasing ensure to select the correct shipping options if purchasing more than one item.

When you make payment please use the auction number or your TradeMe username as a reference. If the reference is incorrect or missing, we are unable to match your payment to your purchase and this can cause delays in shipping.
Layby may be available on a case by case basis over 3-4 weeks on items exceeding $100. Please ask via the Trade Me question & answer facility.
Courier & Shipping Information
Toyplanet offers one of the best shipping deals on TradeMe. Pay only one shipping charge per order. This means you pay for shipping only on one product, and all other products purchased at the same time and shipped in the same order go freight free. Our flat rate covers all of New Zealand, there are no hidden extra fees or charges. This makes the total cost of a Toyplanet purchase great value.
Toyplanet orders are normally shipped with track and trace and using Fastway couriers. We endeavour to despatch your order within two business days of payment clearing. We can deliver to your work or home address anywhere in NZ. Please ensure that there is someone to receive your order during regular work hours at the address you have provided for delivery. We are unable to deliver to Post Office Boxes or Private Bags. We may use NZ post at our discretion for rural or other destinations that incur excessive courier charges.
Please do not ask us to discount our shipping rates by using NZ Post for small items. It is not cost effective for us to pay staff time and fuel charges to make one off trips to the post office from our stores.
Giftwrapping may be available on some products. Please check the auction description or ask us a question.
Delivery Time Frames from Despatch
If your order is urgent please tell us and we’ll do everything we can to speed up your delivery.
Please note that payment by Automatic Payment will add another business day to allow the funds to be confirmed as cleared. (Our preferred method of payment is Direct Credit.)
Auckland & North Island orders take approximately 2 – 3 business days from despatch. (Saturday, Sunday and public holidays are not counted as ‘business days’.)
South Island - orders take approximately 3 – 5 business days from despatch. (Saturday, Sunday and public holidays are not counted as ‘business days’.)
Rural deliveries normally require an extra 2 – 3 business days.
Please note that these are approximate guidelines and Toyplanet is unable to guarantee or arrange delivery on a particular day/time. We are unable to have items delivered on weekends or holidays. Delays are also more likely on Mondays, the first business day after a long weekend and during the Christmas period of November and December. The best advice is to complete your purchases early! If the courier tries to deliver to you and no one is available to receive the parcel a calling card will be left. Please follow the directions on the calling card to arrange a suitable delivery time or alternative delivery location with the courier.
Please also note that sometimes we send orders with more than 1 item from multiple stores depending on where the stock is. This means if you order multiple items they may arrive in multiple deliveries. Please read your packing slip to see where each item is being sent from.
Pick Up is not available at this time for Trade Me orders as products are located in three separate stores Auckland wide.
What if I change my mind?
Please choose carefully as we are not able to refund if you simply change your mind or an item was not ‘what you expected it to be’. Please read the listing description carefully and ask any questions before placing a bid.
What if your goods are damaged in transit?
If you find that your goods have been damaged in transit then please notify us immediately via our contact details above. Ideally if you notice the item or packaging is damaged when you receive the item please either refuse to take delivery or note the damage on any paperwork that you sign from the courier. After contacting us we will advise you how to return the goods to us. The good will need to come back to us in their original packaging with your auction reference number and contact details. Upon receipt we will contact you to arrange a replacement or refund. Please note that you need to return the goods within 7 days of receipt for us to provide you with a replacement or refund. You may also drop off the damaged goods to one of our stores yourself along with your auction details. The store you drop the item off to will not be able to immediately offer a repair, replacement or refund in the store. The item will first have to be returned internally to our headoffice from our store.
What happens if the goods are faulty?
We honour all our obligations under the consumer guarantees act. This means we will replace or fix your goods for free for any faulty goods supplied. Failing the above we will provide a full refund with return of the faulty goods and your receipt. If your goods are faulty then please contact us preferably by email. In this email please include the trademe auction number used to purchase the item, a full description of the fault, pictures o the fault if possible, your name, your address and your landline day time phone numbers. We will then advise you how to return the item. You may also bring the damaged goods to one of our stores yourself along with your auction details. The store you drop the item off to will not be able to immediately offer a repair, replacement or refund in the store. The item will first have to be returned internally to our headoffice from our store.
