Britains Set No. 5198 (issued 1998) -Diorama of the famous defence of Rorkes Drift, Zululand 1879.

Following the massacre of the British troops at Isandlwana, several thousand Zulu warriors went on to attack the mission station and hospital at Rorkes Drift. Lts Chard and Bromhead, with a mere 140 men (many of whom were wounded), held off the attack, and the Zulus eventually withdrew, leaving hundreds of dead. 11 VCs were awarded to the defenders.

This magnificent diorama comprises a Resin Diorama Base (51cm x 30cm) depicting the "Mealie Bag" Redoubt, (complete with moulded figures of soldiers and zulus), accessories and casualties. Separate to the diorama are 5 full (including Bromhead) and 3 half-soldiers (the latter fit into their other halves in the display).

Imagine this in your den, while you are watching "Zulu" & "Zulu Dawn" DVDs.

Housed in a large Limited Edition box (60x36x20), together with cardboard outer carton. 2,000 issued world-wide. As purchased ex. UK auction house - cost over $200 in postage alone ex UK. Weight of diorama is 7 Kilos!

CONDITION: Diorama and box are in excellent condition. Most of the figures are mint, but one (half) soldier has a broken rifle. Unfortunately the 5 separate zulu figures were omitted when supplied. This does not detract from the overall appearance, and figures are available if required.
