Dangerous Magnets Ltd is your helpful & reputable source for unbelievably strong, top quality magnets.
This auction is for a pack of 16 very powerful, neodymium "rare earth" magnets.
Dimensions: 8mm diameter x 8mm long.
A great size for science projects where you need a bit more strength than our D6x6mm. These have a pull/push of around 2.6 kg between magnets, or to 1.2mm sheet steel. They are still relatively safe for school kids, compared with our larger magnets. (Our next larger cylinders would be Dia10x5mm or Dia12x16mm.)
They can also be used as "super-grunty" fridge or white-board magnets. If the grip is too strong to easily remove, then just use them in pairs, or even threes. Used like this they cling to each other very well and behave as single units.
The strength rating is N45, significantly stronger than the N35 often sold in NZ.
Neodymium magnets are about 10 times more powerful than traditional ferrite magnets.
Possible uses include:
- Holding products for display.
- For kids to experiment with, to learn about magnetism.
- Clamp components while gluing.
- Fun, versatile gift.
- Stud finder (well they can find nails anyway).
- Finding lost screws.
- A pair rolling together, as a separable hinge.
- Making kinetic art sculptures.
- Make small motors or generators.
- For many, varied science projects found on YouTube or through Google.
Many more uses, limited only by your imagination. The more you use them, the more uses you find.
Warnings:
- Keep away from small children because if two are swallowed they can cause serious harm.
- They can pinch tender skin.
- The material is brittle so it can chip or break if magnets crash together.
- Keep a safe distance, i.e. where the field is negligible, from electrical and magnetic devices such as TV, computer, tapes, credit card etc.
