This excellent Chinese Sticks Magic Trick Set comes with an instuctional DVD.

The two Chinese Sticks are held together with tassels and string with extended tassel. When the tassel is pulled down, and the string goes up - pull the tassel again and the string goes up again!
When you separate the Chinese Sticks to make it seem like the strings are not connected, pull down the tassel and the string still goes up!
