Athearn N Scale SD75I Diesel Locomotive in Burlington Northern Santa Fe Warbonnet Paint. Road #8277.
The EMD SD75I is a diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD). This unit is the same as the EMD SD75M, with 4,300 horsepower, HTCR-II radial trucks and a 72 feet 4 inchesframe. The "I" in the model designation stands for Isolated cab, this type of cab is recognised by a seam separating the nose and cab components. This seam is the rubber that dampens vibration and cuts down on noise, because the cab is not attached directly to the frame on the unit.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe purchased 26 units built in October 1997, many of which can still be found running today.
Features
- Separately applied details including sunshades, snow plow, air horns and brake wheel
- Directional headlights
- Die-cast split frame design
- DCC ready
- 5-pole motor with skew wound armature and dual brass flywheels
- All wheel drive and electrical pick up
- Blackened metal wheels
- Magnetically operated knuckle couplers
Athearn Product Code: 10740
This loco can be upgraded to DCC with a Digitrax DN163K1C decoder for an additional $40.00 (otherwise a standard DC light board is included)
This model has seen light use and is in excellent condition and runs smoothly. Model comes with Athearn jewel case.
Only selling because this is surplus to my collection and I don't have a layout yet.
Please check my other listings for more N Scale locos and rolling stock.
