These phones work on the AT&T "GoPhone" network in the USA.

When you arrive you take them to an AT&T retailer like Radio Shack (they are everywhere... USA version of Dick Smith Electronics) They set the phone up for you and you're good to go. The phones cost $2/day for unlimited calls and text and the great thing was that it didn't cost you $2 until you made a call or sent a text on any given day.
