Penelope Cruz Sanchez is the Madrid-born ballet dancer, model and actress who had her first major movie appearances in Jamon, Jamon (and I still don't understand it!), the Oscar-winning Belle Epoque and All the Pretty Horses.

In 2001, she appeared in Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise which sparked a three-year relationship with the actor.

It was this relationship that brought Penelope to New Zealand where Tom was filming "The Last Samurai". During their time in NZ the couple regularly visited Queenstown and Arrowtown - where Penelope's time was marred at coffee one morning when she was well-slobbered by a rather large St Bernard dog named Einstein (who was pretty chuffed about the entire experience) and so was she!
