Description
‘Approach to Rangiatea’
This carving depicts Tane on his ascend through the heavens to the highest abode to the sacred temple ‘Rangiatea’. It was here where Tane received the three baskets of knowledge from Io, the supreme one.
Rangiatea is said to be the first whare wananga (house of higher learning).
On a personal level the carving represents the transcendental motion toward universal consciousness
Dimensions; 470mm x 69.5mm x 200mm
Material: Native Tawa timber, Acrylic, Paua shell, feathers, Coconut fiber, linseed oil
