It's 1983. A naive and gullible Ray Jenkins (Angus Sampson) is coerced into 'muling' drugs on an end-of-season football trip to Thailand by his teammate Gavin (Leigh Whannell). Arriving home with lethal narcotics hidden in his stomach, Ray is promptly arrested by Federal Police officer Tom Croft (Hugo Weaving) and his officious partner Les Paris (Ewen Leslie).

His lawyer Jasmine (Georgina Haig) reveals that without any proof, the Police can only detain Ray for seven days. Alone and afraid, 'the Mule' makes a desperate choice; to defy his bodily functions and withhold the evidence...literally. Now a 'human time-bomb', he inadvertently drags cops, criminals and concerned family into his impossible escapade.

Based on true events and featuring an incredible ensemble cast of Australia's finest, this darkly comic thriller will shock, amuse and leave you on the edge of your seat.
