We seek innovative, experienced people to respond to the individual needs of people with autistic spectrum disorder, high and complex behaviours and offending histories. Some of the people we support have been referred under the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care & Rehabilitation (IDCC&R) Act 2003. These collaborative roles involve working closely with our clients living in the Hamilton, Cambridge and greater Waikato areas.
We believe all people should be valued, respected and supported in their community and we seek to deliver an individualised lifestyle, specifically designed alongside the people we support to focus on rehabilitation and positive behavioural support. An interest in sports, and other activities in the community is a real advantage, as is initiative and displaying problem solving abilities.
Essential Skills and Experience needed:
• Sound experience working with challenging behaviours
• Good de-escalation skills
• Resilience and a passion for supporting people who have a disability
• Have good health and be physically active
• A full NZ drivers licence
• Excellent communication and technology skills
• The right to legally work in New Zealand for at least 12 months
The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing qualification, Level 2, 3 and/or 4 qualification or equivalent is a real advantage to this position.
As well as set hours, flexibility with hours worked is also a requirement. We are looking for several people who can work approx. 60 to 80 hours a fortnight, on a roster, and do up to 5 sleepovers a fortnight. We need a mix of full time and part time employees to support our clients.
