Community Living are seeking Specialist Support Staff for our Regional Intellectual Disability Supported Accommodation Service (RIDSAS) which provides support for people who have high and complex needs and have been referred under the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation) Act 2003.

We have houses in Hamilton, Whatawhata and Cambridge where we have 24/7 shift coverage on a fortnightly roster. We are looking for people with strength of character to work closely with the people we support. Someone who is healthy and physically active with a strong presence would be ideal.


Essential Skills and Experience needed:

A full New Zealand drivers licence
Experience working with challenging behaviours
Great de-escalation skills and ability to employ distraction techniques
A genuine willingness to support people
Personal qualities of empathy, respect, patience, resilience, honesty, and confidence
Excellent communication and technology skills
The right to legally work in New Zealand for at least 12 months
The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent is an advantage however we will genuinely consider people with the right values and keen interest to learn. Community Living offers ongoing training, development and coaching.

The positions are for full-time, 60 to 80 hours on a fortnightly roster which could include awake shifts, plus some sleepovers.
