A very rare bicycle in Nz. It is a Sunbeam bicycle built around the1930s. It originally appeared in Christchurch as far back as I could track it. These ‘pathracers’ as they were known were racing bicycles used on velodromes. This particular bicycle has had an immaculate restoration about 9 years ago. It had all lead paint stripped of and replaced with modern auto paint. Millimeter references were taken and all the original gold decals and pinstripes were replaced across the whole bicycle. The original rims were re-chrome plated and polished. New spokes were added and kept in their unusual patterns with the geometry of the spoke threading design different on each wheel. Both front and rear hubs have the original grease ports. The headset and bottom brackets were stripped down, re chromed, machine cleaned and restored. They all have fresh grease and brand new ball bearings. The handlebars and riser are all originals and have been re chromed and polished. The front forks still have the iconic Sunbeam S cap still. This has also been re-chromed and polished. It comes with the Original leather brooks B67 saddle. This was restored by the head of the leather work department at Weta Workshop. I have sourced a replacement period correct tire pump that fits within the frame and a carbide lamp that fits on the original headset lamp holder. The flywheel and cranks are original and have been re chromed and polished. The pedals might not be the original, but it’s a bit hard to tell. One of them is slightly bent on the reflector holder. The rear hub is an original Perry ‘two star’ coaster brake. It was completely dismantled and restored using only 'new old stock' parts. With new ball bearings and fresh grease. It will come with spare parts and a donor Perry two star coaster brake for the future. It has white Schwalbe tires. PLZ NOTE I can't be 100% sure on dates sorry! This is not a commuters bike, She's an old girl! It has some wear and scratching from attending events. Selling due to downsizing.
