Head Shepherd – Melrose Station – South Otago

Melrose Station is a progressive 2,800 ha hill country farming operation running approximately 22,000 stock units. We're continually investing in our people, infrastructure and technology, and are looking for an experienced Head Shepherd to join our team. Working alongside our Stock Manager, this is an opportunity for someone who enjoys responsibility and wants to continue developing their leadership skills. For the right person, there is genuine potential to progress within the business.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has solid sheep and beef farming experience.
• Is physically fit and enjoys working hard.
• Is confident managing stock and making good decisions.
• Is open-minded, adaptable and willing to embrace new ideas and technology.
• Has ambition to grow into greater responsibility over time. Potential to move up to Stock manager role in time.
• Takes pride in doing the job well and contributing to a positive team culture.

Technology is part of how we farm. We are continually improving how we farm through technology. Experience with, or enthusiasm for learning, the following would be an advantage: Halter virtual fencing FarmIQ Resolution Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets and Drive)
