Experienced Skidder operator

Skidder Operator – Gisborne & East Coast Role overview Due to our current operator up skilling within the company, we are seeking an experienced Skidder Operator to join a high production forestry crew based in the Gisborne and East Coast region. The successful applicant will be responsible for safely and efficiently extracting logs in steep and challenging terrain while maintaining top levels of productivity. Key responsibilities

• Operate our new John Deere 768L-ll 6x6 grapple skidder to extract logs from the cutover to the skid site in a fast paced, high production environment.
• Work closely with fallers, hauler/loader operators and the rest of the crew to maintain a smooth, continuous wood flow.
• Carry out daily pre start checks, greasing and basic maintenance to keep the machine in safe working order.
• Follow all site Health & Safety procedures, including radio protocols, exclusion zones, and traffic management on skid sites and haul tracks.
• Accurately follow the crew foreman’s harvest plans for the day.
• Skills and experience required
• Proven experience as a skidder operator in production forestry (high production crew experience strongly preferred).
• Confident operating in steep and difficult terrain.
• Strong understanding of forestry Health & Safety requirements and safe operating procedures.
• Mechanically minded, able to identify issues early and carry out basic maintenance.
• Good communication skills and able to work as part of a tight knit crew. Personal attributes
• Drug free, able to pass a pre employment drug test and ongoing random testing.
• Able to pass a pre employment medical and be physically fit for outdoor work.
• Safety conscious mindset – always thinking about your own safety and your mates’.
• Self managing, reliable and punctual, with a good attitude and strong work ethic.
• Takes pride in machine care and keeping the work area tidy and organised. Employment details
• Full time position based out of the Gisborne & East Coast region. This crew is currently working 20 minutes from town.
