Description
Our company is looking for a permanent, full-time, Truck Driver (Class 4) to join our busy team. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility for your vehicle and notifying the company of any service or other maintenance that may be required.
- Ensure the vehicle is maintained and in a roadworthy condition.
- Daily vehicle checks (oil and water) before starting the engine.
- Safely loading and unloading items to prevent damage.
- Remain alert of safety requirements while loading or unloading items.
- Ensure the load is properly secured or covered to prevent loss, damage or spill on the road.
- Accurately verify loading documents
- Comply with weight requirements and ensure the load is equally distributed
- Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules. *Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
- Reviewing job sheets before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete.
- Informing management of any obstructions to making safe, efficient deliveries on time.
- Keeping your vehicle clean and tidy at all times.
- Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries.
- Notifying the company of any accidents or damage to the vehicle immediately and complete the appropriate paperwork within 24 hours.
- Fully comply with logbook requirements.
- Maintain a current driver’s license applicable for the vehicle you drive.
Requirements:
- Heavy Vehicle License (NZ Class 4, or higher, or Overseas Equivalent)
- At least 2 years relevant experience.
- Physically fit as the job involves heavy lifting and moving heavy items.
- Ability to load and unload vehicle using lifting or tipping devices
- Good understanding of dealing with “hot mix”(insight will be tested at interview)
- Good knowledge of related Health &Safety requirements (will be tested at interview) *Ability to operate a "Road Ranger "gearbox .(will be tested at interview)
- Good communication skills due to regular interaction with clients, other drivers and the office
- Clear police record
- Willing to complete pre-employment and random drug testing *Willing to work shifts, including on weekends
Pay rate: $30 per hour
Hours: As this is a full-time position, you will be guaranteed a minimum 30 hours per week but will likely be required to work approximately 40 hours per week. Hours will be rostered and may involve working on weekends. Apply online.
