About the Role We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Construction Foreman to lead our kerb and footpath prep crew in Dunedin. This role is ideal for an organised and experienced construction professional who takes pride in delivering quality civil works, enjoys working outdoors, and wants to lead a skilled crew delivering essential local infrastructure.

As the foreman on the kerb, channel and footpath contract you will lead daily dig out & preparation activities, coordinate labourers, and machine operators, ensure compliance with specifications and council requirements, and maintain a strong safety culture on site.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and supervise site crews, including labourers, and plant operators, ensuring tasks are sequenced efficiently to meet programme and quality requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate day-to-day dig out and preparation works for kerb, channel and footpath construction including setting out, formation, and compaction.
  • Prepare and maintain site documentation including daily records, material take-offs, site diaries, and progress reports to project management.
  • Oversee traffic management implementation and co-ordinate with subcontractors, stakeholders and council inspectors as required.
  • Ensure site health and safety compliance, lead toolbox talks, enforce use of personal protective equipment and promote a positive safety culture across the crew.
  • Assist with planning for plant, materials and labour resourcing, and identify opportunities for efficiency and continuous improvement on site.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in civil construction foreman or supervisory roles, preferably with specific experience in dig out and preparation kerb, channel and footpath projects.
  • Current NZ driver licence (Class 2 essential) with WTR.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety obligations, experience implementing traffic management near live carriageways and leading safe work practices on site.
  • Good communication and leadership skills, reliable work ethic and the ability to manage small teams effectively under varying weather and site conditions.
  • Organised, with the ability to maintain accurate site records, manage time effectively and communicate progress to project managers and stakeholders.
