BestStart Leeds Street is looking for a passionate, qualified, and certificated Kaiako to join our energetic, tight‑knit team.
Located in the heart of Wellington City, our centre thrives on urban exploration. Our tamariki regularly venture out to Te Papa, discover hidden art throughout the city, and learn from the vibrant community around us. Learning doesn't stop at our doors, it's woven into every corner of our neighbourhood.
This is a Parental Leave Cover role through to October 2026, working Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Whether you're newly qualified or an experienced educator, if you're committed to making a meaningful difference for young learners, we'd love to hear from you.

About our Preschool Space
You'll be working with our over‑2s, in a creative, spacious environment designed for building, constructing, exploring, and imaginative play. Our large flexible room also transforms into a restful sleep space for tamariki who need it.
What you'll bring
- A BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current Teacher Certification
- Strong understanding of child‑led curriculum, planning, and extending learning
- Solid knowledge of ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance expectations
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday practice
- Warm, respectful care and a passion for high‑quality teaching
- Reliability, initiative, and a collaborative team spirit
- Confidence building strong relationships with tamariki and whānau
