CPT Operator – Experienced or Trainee

Our Client is a well-established data acquisition and geotechnical testing company.

Due to growth, they are looking to expend their team and are looking for an additional CPT (Cone Penetration Testing) Operator. Ideally, they would like an experienced CPT operator, but they are also open to a trainee with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

The Role

This is a full-time position Mon – Fri

40 hours per week guaranteed but hours are usually 50-60 per week.

At times this role will involve working away Mon-Fri a $60 per day food allowance will be paid, and accommodation will be provided.

Duties include soil testing using a CPT rig on sites for infrastructure and construction projects.

What we are looking for

• Ideally, we are looking for an experienced CPT operator
• For a trainee we are looking for someone with an aptitude to learn and some transferable skills. Could be a plant operator, kiwifruit plant operator, drill rig assistant or similar
• Must be able to work autonomously and unsupervised
• Must have good people skills and great English skills both written and verbal as you will be dealing with clients
• Must have mechanical aptitude
• Must be IT Literate and have good attention to detail
• Must be a practical hands-on person this is a site-based role and involves working outdoors
• Must have experience of operating vehicles on rough terrain
• Experience of using trailers would be a distinct advantage
• The ideal candidate would have a Class 4 license, but we are open to providing training for the right person. Must hold a current Full Class 1 license as a minimum
• Must be physically fit as the role can be physical at times.
• Must pass Drug & alcohol testing and annual health screening.
• Must hold rights to work in NZ.

Payrates – Dependant upon experience

Experienced CPT Operator – Up to $48 per hour

Trainee - $26-29 per hour

Trainee with Class 2 license $29-32 per hour

Trainee with Class 4 license $33-38 per hour
