Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Needs Assessor and Service Coordinator to join a wellbeing-focused organisation on a full-time basis in Dunedin. This role is central to supporting individuals with disabilities resulting from mental health challenges, ensuring they receive timely, appropriate, and well‑coordinated services.

About the Role:

Immediate start - this role will begin as a temporary role with temp to perm intentions.

Monday to Friday 30-35 hours per week (between the hours of 9am - 5pm).

Reporting to the Manager, you will facilitate both initial and comprehensive needs assessments and coordinate services identified as required. You will work closely with clients, their caregivers, family and whānau, referral agencies, specialist assessors, and service providers.


Key Responsibilities:

Needs Assessment

  • Complete prompt and accurate needs assessments that reflect current needs, existing supports, and service gaps
  • Prepare assessment reports that meet required standards and timeframes
  • Determine the appropriateness of comprehensive assessments on a case-by-case basis
  • Ensure assessments are realistic, person-centred, and outcome-focused

Service Coordination

  • Implement service plans as agreed, or negotiate appropriate alternatives with clients
  • Complete reviews in line with scheduled timeframes

Client Experience

  • Maintain high levels of satisfaction among clients, caregivers, family and whānau
  • Deliver services in a way that supports positive outcomes and minimises complaints

Reporting and Performance

  • Complete all reports and returns accurately, fully, and on time
  • Meet deadlines and performance targets as required

Skills and Experience:

The successful applicant will bring strong people skills and a genuine commitment to supporting others. Ideally, you will have:

  • Empathy and understanding of working with people with disabilities
  • Experience and knowledge of psychiatric and drug and alcohol-related disabilities
  • Relevant training in health or disability services
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
  • Ability to work effectively within the disability sector and wider community
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and working with family/whānau support systems
  • Knowledge of available services and support agencies
  • Strong administration skills - confidence using word processing and information systems
  • A full New Zealand driver's licence (company vehicle will be provided for client visits)
