BestStart Parkside is seeking a friendly, highly organised Centre Administrator to join our welcoming and experienced team. This is a key role within our centre, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of operations so our teachers can focus on providing quality care and education for tamariki.

We are a well-established centre with over 30 years of experience in early childhood education. Our team culture is supportive and collaborative, and our philosophy is grounded in responsive, play-based learning.

Located on Hagley Avenue directly across from Hagley Park, our centre enjoys beautiful surroundings and is close to Christchurch Hospital and the central city. Convenient on-site staff parking is provided.

About the Role

This is a permanent position for 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday (approximately 7:30am–1:00pm, negotiable for the right candidate).

As our Centre Administrator, you will be the welcoming face of our centre and the organisational support behind the scenes. You will work independently while staying closely connected with our teaching team, whānau, and tamariki.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day centre administration
  • Maintaining accurate enrolment and compliance records
  • Managing parent accounts, payments, and direct debits
  • Responding to family enquiries and supporting new enrolments
  • General data entry and document management
  • Supporting Ministry of Education requirements and reporting
  • Contributing positively to centre culture
  • Occasionally supporting teachers in the classroom when required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, welcoming, and professional
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment
  • Confident working independently and using initiative
  • Comfortable relating to children, whānau, and staff
  • IT confident, with good knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook

Experience in school or education administration is an advantage, particularly with enrolments, compliance documentation, and communication with families.
