Laboratory Technician Looking to start a career in the mining industry? This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to join a leading laboratory team supporting operations at Macraes Mine. If you're reliable, safety-conscious, and enjoy hands-on work, we'd love to hear from you.
This role is ideal for candidates based in Dunedin or Oamaru, with transport provided from Dunedin or Oamaru to site. Full training is provided, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in laboratory and mining services.
Location: Macraes Mine, SGS (transport provided from Dunedin or Oamaru) Start date: Potential start 4th August Pay rate: $28.00 per hour (guaranteed 48 hours per rotation, with all breaks paid)
What you'll be doing
- Processing rock and mineral samples through various laboratory stages
- Operating sample crushing and processing equipment
- Bagging, labelling, and preparing samples for testing
- Moving loaded trolleys between workstations
- Working safely in a dusty environment while wearing full PPE and respiratory protection
What we're looking for
- Full NZ Driver Licence
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts (6:30am-6:30pm and 6:30pm-6:30am)
- Availability to work a 7-on, 7-off roster with alternating day and night shifts
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on environment
- OSH Forklift Certificate is advantageous (F endorsement not required)
