About the Role We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Driver/Operator to join our kerb & footpath team in Dunedin. This role suits an experienced and professional class 4 driver who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in safe and efficient driving/plant operation, and wants to contribute to delivering essential local infrastructure. As a Driver/Operator on the kerb and footpath contract you will drive a class 4/operate site plant, support excavation, and work closely with the site foreman and crew to ensure works are completed safely, on time and to specification.
What you’ll be doing
- Transport materials and plant between sites as required, ensuring loads are secure and vehicle checks are completed prior to departure.
- Operate plant and vehicles required for kerb, channel and footpath preparation and construction, including excavators, rollers, tip trucks and small loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate records of hours, plant usage and fuel consumption, complete required site documentation and communicate progress or issues to the foreman or project management.
- Adhere to site health and safety procedures, attend toolbox talks, wear required personal protective equipment and contribute to a positive safety culture on site.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience operating civil construction plant and driving site vehicles in a construction environment, preferably on kerb, channel and footpath projects.
- Current NZ driver licence (Class 4 or higher preferred) with WTR.
- Good understanding of health and safety obligations on construction sites, including experience working near live carriageways and following traffic management plans.
- Reliable, punctual and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions; physically able to assist with manual tasks as required.
- Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a small team and report effectively to the site foreman.
