Description

At Kinetic, we’re passionate about delivering better, more connected journeys for communities across New Zealand and beyond. With 4,500+ employees keeping New Zealand moving every day through our Go Bus, NZ Bus, Johnston’s, and Skybus operations, we’re proud to be part of Australasia’s largest and fastest-growing bus network.

We’re now looking for a proactive and commercially minded Procurement Specialist to join our team and play a key role in strengthening supplier relationships, driving value, and contributing to our national procurement strategy.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the GM – Procurement, you’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day procurement activity, supporting stakeholders across engineering, workshops, depots, and finance, while building strong supplier partnerships that deliver sustainable commercial outcomes.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll also lead procurement-related projects, negotiate and manage supplier contracts, and identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and vendor performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the key point of contact for procurement stakeholders across the business.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, ensuring contracts, KPIs, and obligations are met.
  • Developing tenders, negotiating agreements, and driving best practice procurement.
  • Leading procurement projects from scope through to delivery, on time and within budget.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and proactively addressing risks or opportunities.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and the development of procurement strategy.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can balance strong commercial and analytical skills with excellent relationship-building. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, solving complex challenges, and influencing outcomes that create long-term value. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in supply chain, logistics, or business administration.
  • Proven procurement or commercial management experience (transport or passenger service experience a plus).
  • Strong contract negotiation, tendering, and vendor management expertise.
  • Project management capability, with ability to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Solid communication skills – confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and supply chain best practice.

Why Kinetic?

  • Be part of a growing, global transport leader with exciting career opportunities.
  • Work alongside a supportive, high-performing team passionate about continuous improvement.
  • Make a real impact on the way we partner with suppliers and deliver services to our communities.

At Kinetic, we’re not just moving people, we’re connecting communities – and you could be a key part of that journey.
