Vintage bridge floor lamp in antique style, matched with Victorian-style hand-sewn silk shade and glass beaded fringe. OOAK Lamp that gives absolutely beautiful light.

BASE - 1.6m high brass bridge floor lamp. Genuine 1950-60's vintage, brought to NZ from Singapore many years ago. I bought it in pieces from the daughter of original owners in 2018. The base has been completely rewired and certified by a lighting specialist and electrician. It is stable on the floor, takes standard bayonet bulbs, and is just the right height for reading in an armchair. Antique bridge floor lamps are rare, especially in NZ, and this base will only increase in value with time.

SHADE - Ombre hand-dyed silk, hand-sewn to the frame and layered with antique Edwardian silver metal lace, antique Victorian net and tambour rose embroidery, and completed with incredible 3-dimensional French butterflies and antique and vintage metallic gold trim. The butterflies were taken from a piece of a ball gown (see photos) dated to very early 1900's, entirely handmade, with prong-set rhinestones for antennae, stunning chenille wings in French blue and ecru, and edged with gold thread and hundreds of tiny glass and silver beads. They're GORGEOUS. The dress must have been breathtaking.

FRINGE: There are over 20,000 glass beads in the fringe, including Swarovski sapphire and powder blue beads, each strand strung by hand. The gold beads are 'Light Topaz' silver-lined Toho beads, made in Japan and prized for their uniformity of size and shape. The effect when lit at night is lovely.

Things to note: I restore antique and vintage lamps and design and make silk shades for them as working art pieces, using antique textiles from 1800's to 1930's. Shades are constructed in the traditional method - there is no glue used; each component is sewn to the frame.
