Description
This is a truly rare find!
A large scrimshaw horn made for Queen Victorias Jubilee in 1897.
The Queens face is etched into the horn and the words:
'Queen Victoria Born May 24 1817' and 'The Diamond Jubilee 22 June 1897"
There is a metal clip attached for hanging (see pics). At approximately 37 cm long (from the carved crown on the top to the base of the horn) it's a good size. I have no idea which animal this horn has come from.
There is a small amount of damage that can be seen in the pics. One of the pieces of the bone crown has been broken but it does not detract from this amazing piece in my opinion. In very good general condition for this vintage.
