New Zealand Revenue 1880 Longtype £3/10 value claret shade [rare original shade for 1881 and 1886; first and second issues respectively of this value] [Type 3 printing in 1886; ‘NZ & Star 6mm’ wmk; perf 12½] fiscally used as unpunched with ‘Auckland Stamp Office Crown’ type. This printing is the most realistic to get the claret shade; as the 1881 is very rare and more often seen as a specimen rather than used. Note that Mowbrays [unlike Spence] erroneously lists 1886 as rose rather than claret. Spence 2013 CV as claret is $200.00 [Mowbrays 2020 [as rose] unpunched CV is $35.00].

Condition is good; heavy cancel strike visible through reverse as typical; fine good example otherwise without any actual faults.
