This matchbox, just ajar, reveals an image of a woman inside. As one tries to look further within we barely see the image of a man. We recognise this as the biblical story of Adam & Eve.

The outside of the box is covered in real snakeskin from the artists’ grandfather’s farm in Colombia.

This piece was created thinking about hiding or being hidden inside a box. Protection and containment, keeping treasures.

By supporting this auction you are helping Amnesty International to defend human rights all around the world.

Once you have successfully won the auction of your favourite matchbox, perhaps you would like to have it carefully preserved and beautifully presented in a 3D Box Frame? For example, you can have your matchbox mounted (and thus appear to float) within a deep box frame. The frame will also include protective glass and different frame colours and sizes are also available for you to choose. We are happy to announce that the professional framing teams at ‘Sgraffito’ and ‘Artmount & Framing Matters’ have generously offered to provide our auction winners with the opportunity to do so at a discounted price.

To all our auction winners, let us know at the end of the auction if you would be interested in these framing offers and we can send out the details to you.
