Description

From the cover – In 1892 Bernard Chambers planted the first vines on his property in Hawke’s Bay, on the foothills below Te Mata Peak. Four years later he was making his first wine, and by the end of the first decade of the twentieth century, Te Mata wines were winning gold medals at international exhibitions. “Te Mata” is a celebration of the hundred years since the first vintage. Illustrated with a wonderful selection of historic and contemporary photographs, it encapsulates the history of New Zealand’s fine wines, from idealistic beginnings to commercial success and international acclaim.
