Description

This book is the culmination of the coming together of two Hawke's Bay enthusiasts. The aim was to cover the Bay from the first crude postcards of the early 1900's to modern day. Events that have made the Province with the mourning of Kings, Napier's Mardi Gras, the A&P show and the Hastings Blossom Festival among others. Advertising cards both old and new and recreational activities in the early 1900's. Disasters both natural and man made. Comic cards covering the province and a section on greetings cards. Includes contributions by other enthusiasts and collectors which include "Clive" by Craig McErlich. "The Port of Wairoa" by Geoff Potts, "Napier City through the eyes of Charles and Percy Sorrell" by Sarah Semple. "The Taupo Road" by Tony Jones. "Hawke's Bay Railways" by Jan Price and "Hawke's Bay Earthquake - Buildings Destroyed" by courtesy of the Hastings Library Archive collection.
