Japanese Saws cut on the pull stroke which is very efficient and leaves a clean, narrow kerf. Due to the fact that the blade is in tension when it is cutting, it can be much thinner and more flexible. This thin, flexible steel blade is useful for trimming close to the edge of things or along a surface without damage to the adjacent timber.
