Description
Pearl white PS2 from Japan. Cleaned inside out. Minor wear but great working condition. Console, GameStar SATA adapter, 500GB HDD, 256MB memory card (actually 2x 128MB cards in one, use the switch on the card to change) included. No other accessories, no games.
In 2004 I bought this new in Japan, originally the 50000PW NTSC model. A Matrix Infinity modchip was installed here at a shop in 2005.
While that installation the guy fried the original PCB. Due to lack of experience with NTSC 50000 boards and info back then. So a replacement PAL 50002 board went in. This now also has a 240V power supply so there's no problem using mains here.
Modchips for PS2s are no longer essential as FreeMCBoot/FreeHDBoot setups work great to run the Open PS2 Loader (OPL) and ISOs. The main purpose of modchips will be to run any disc (retail + backup) from any region. Also you can directly boot homebrew from unofficial large cheap MCs like the one included.
However I don't recommend using discs regardless on a PS2 as the lasers fail quite easily, especially with burnt copies and scratched discs.
So how do you use this modded PS2. I tried to make it as easy as possible for the new owner. The important button combos and console behavior is all in a photo. Too long to list all here as it goes over the character limit.
I'll miss this console as it's the one I used the most among few PS2s I own. Selling just to narrow down my collection.
Will ship nationwide. Pick up is St Johns.
