The MicroKORG XL+ synth features a subset of the Korg Radias sound engine, which combines high quality low aliasing virtual analog synthesis with additional PCM sample/wave data for basic rompling.

This means you get superb sounding synthesized oscillators, as well as a staple of usable "regular" sounds such as pianos/organs/mellotron sounds which are usually not included in (virtual) analog style synths.

The fat 16 band vocoder is built in, and the synth comes with its gooseneck microphone in the box to get you vocoding straight away, but the XL also has an audio input, so you can process any external sounds by the XLs vocoder, filters and effects.

The MicroKORG XL in this auction is the most recent "+" version, which adds more PCM sample data, for better piano, organ, and mellotron sounds, as well as all new presets. The XL+ is easy to spot as it features the new black top plate and knob caps.

At the time or typing this blurb there are 640 official preset sounds for the + series available for download/use, but you can also import all patches from the previous "non-plus" XL version too. The MicroKORG XL+ only fits 128 patches at a time, so using the excellent free computer editor makes swapping patches easy, and for hard core sound programming/design having a full screen interface can be very useful.

As well as being a great standalone synthesizer with battery power capability, this can operate as a standard MIDI controller for any other synths or software you have.
