Description
A fine example of very desirable vintage NZ Studio Pottery in this good sized "boulder vase" by the highly regarded Potter Paul Fisher.
Deliciously thick tenmoku glazes are noted with subtle wax resist leaf decoration.
This would have been made Post 1976 whereas in that year he traveled to Japan, and with the help of the Hamada family he was able to pot at the Daisei Gama Kiln in Mashiko... the kiln the hired Shoji Hamada as a Potter in 1924. Fisher was able to watch the master Potter work, and this heavily influenced his own work apon return to New Zealand.
This piece is in excellent condition with no cracks chips or other damage to note, and it measures 230mm tall by 230mm wide (23cm by 23cm)
It is clearly incised to its base with the potters well recorded Japanese style makers mark.
Happy Bidding. Note:Will only be sent within New Zealand. Thank you.
