It has a continuous variable transmission (CVT) and a carbon fibre belt drive, which lasts about 50,000km. This means that the gears change as you turn the handle and there is no clunking of the gears moving up or down. This also means much less maintenance on mechanical gears. It provides assistance up to 45km/h.
