Description

This bike was built for me by the famous Harry Quinn in St. Florence, Wales in August 1989. (It has only done 200 miles) Harry Quinn was a friend of mine and, originally, set up his family frame-making business in Liverpool (England) (Wikipedia “Harry Quinn” for a great history on him) Sadly Harry passed away in 2009 aged 92 but his legacy continues with frames such as this one. It is Frame No Q116 but, I can assure you, that it was the first low-profile frame that Harry (and his son Peter) ever made and it ‘ran on rails’ from the very first pedal stroke. I’m 67 now so it’s unlikely I will ever race this bike again – the photo of me racing on it was taken in the late 80’s ………. Specifications: 53cm Columbus SLX Frame with curved tubes. (Harry said to me at the time that he had never before built a frame to match the profile of the rider – he was referring to my stomach matching the top tube curve!!! – the cheeky bugger!!!) Mavic Low-profile Handlebars and Mavic 90mm Stem 700C Rear wheel with Shimano Q/R Hubs; 28 spokes; Wolber ‘Profil 18’ rims – Tubulars. 6 speed hub. 650C (yes 650C!!!) Front wheel with Shimano Q/R Hubs; 28 spokes; Wolber ‘Profil 18’ rims – Tubulars Not sure on brake set but think they would be Shimano side-pull with adjusters Campagnolo Chainset with 52 teeth single ring fitted – spare 57T outer and 42T inner rings as well. Royce Needle Bearing Bottom Bracket set Turbo saddle; Brake lines and gear change lines run inside frame. Shimano Derailleur: Track pump (needs new washers)

It needs a good tidy-up and will certainly need new Tubs and I noticed today that the stem is not tightening on the bars properly so may need a shim. Haven’t mentioned the pedals as I imagine this type is obsolete now and you wouldn’t get shoe clips to suit !!! It’s light in weight but haven’t been able to weigh properly so imagine around 18lbs or so. Sorry to see it go but must get rid of ‘stuff’. Happy nostalgic bidding. Start price is reserve.
