Description
Dan Carter is auctioning off his 70th All Blacks Test Jersey to support his local rugby club Southbridge.
So many community sports clubs have been affected by Covid-19 and Dan wants to play his part in giving back to grassroots rugby. “Grassroots rugby and community clubs are what New Zealand rugby is all about. We all need to do our bit in getting New Zealand communities back on their feet and we need to rally around and get innovative to raise funds.”
Southbridge president Shona Mehlhopt said “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the sport we all love, but rugby remains at the heart of our community, we want to make sure we come back stronger than ever.”
Dan started playing for the Southbridge rugby club at the age of 5 and has gone on to achieve 112 test caps for the All Blacks. Southbridge is a small rural service town, with a population of 900, approximately 30 minutes from Christchurch and like many rural New Zealand towns rugby sits at the heart of the community.
Dan’s jersey is being auctioned to help alleviate financial pressure that is being felt by so many community sports clubs. His 70th test Jersey represents one of the most intense and physical matches Dan has ever played, his 70th Test Match, against the The Springboks, Eden Park 2010. Dan said, “we had a point to prove after losing all three test matches to South Africa during the Tri Nations in 2009.”
Here is your unique opportunity to own a All Blacks Test Jersey and help support community sport. All proceeds go to Southbridge Rugby Club.
