1934 Morgan Super 3 F4 convertible
Background check
This vehicle has been de-registered in the past and then registered again. The registration may have expired because the licence was not kept current or it may have been in an accident and written off by an insurance company.
Description
This is an original* 1934 Morgan F4 three-wheeler, built in the Morgan factory in Malvern, England. It is not a Morgan Super 3 as stated in the auction title, but F4 is not available as a Morgan model option on Trade Me. Morgan stopped producing the original 3-wheelers in 1952, and resumed after 60 years with the Super 3 model from 2012. They are available brand new in NZ for about $85,000 but without a roof afaik.
As if this wee mog hasn't got enough character, I decided to give it even more by adding the Matchless V-twin mockup. I've done it without modifying or harming the car in any way, using small bolts and nuts with washers on the radiator mesh grille. It is therefore completely removable without trace, and is there just for fun! It doesn't affect the engine cooling but I've also renewed the mechanical water pump for good measure. I believe this car was first imported to NZ around 1977. Some time between 1977 and 1987 the registration was allowed to lapse before being re-registered in October 1987 with the plate number IA8363. I believe this was also the original plate allocated in 1977. There is zero evidence that the car has ever been in an accident despite Trade Me's "re-registration check" above! The personalized number plate WEEMOG is included in the sale. The odometer currently reads just over 2200 miles which converts to 3549 km. Of course it will have been around the clock at least once during its 92 years, but the engine seems to be in very good condition and starts easily, even when cold. I have driven WEEMOG from Lower Hutt over Haywards Hill to the Kapiti Coast. For more information please ask questions or better still phone me on the number given below. The only warning on the last WOF was for excessive play in the steering box, but they let her off due to her age :)
- The electrics were probably originally 6V but it is now converted to 12V.
