A standout feature of this apartment is the private, west-facing balcony, a rare and valuable addition within the building. This distinctive residence offers a high stud, two spacious bedrooms with great natural light and ample storage, one bathroom, and its own private entrance.
Offered fully furnished, the apartment enjoys a prime position on the building’s elevated, sun-soaked western corner. The current owners have thoughtfully refurbished this character-filled home, while the proactive owners’ committee continues to maintain and enhance this iconic heritage building. No earthquake strengthening is required, and exterior refurbishment is already in progress.
Set within a highly regarded and tightly held character building in the heart of the CBD, this apartment offers an exceptional lifestyle. Some of Auckland’s best restaurants, bars, and cafés—including Commercial Bay—are just moments away. The Dilworth Building is a heritage mixed-use property, combining residential apartments with retail spaces on the ground floor. Designed by William Gummer and Reginald Ford, it was constructed between 1925 and 1927 and holds a ‘Historic Place – Category 1’ classification. Commissioned by James Dilworth, the building was originally intended as a rental investment to support students of the Dilworth Ulster Institute (now Dilworth School).
Historically, the Dilworth Trust Board occupied the ninth floor (including a mezzanine), while the remainder of the building was leased to tenants. Although sold by the Dilworth Trust in the 1980s, many original features remain. Over the years, it has accommodated the American consulate and even served as the U.S. Army headquarters during World War II.
