Ti Beach lies between the Paihia town centre and Waitangi, the historical site where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840 by representatives of the British Crown and various Māori Chiefs from the Confederate Tribes.

The Bay of Islands is commonly referred to as the Sub-Tropical Paradise of New Zealand and Paihia the Jewel in the Crown. The Bay of Islands contains around 140 islands.
