Here we have a pair of prints depicting luxury ocean liners in 1837 and 1937. The gold frames would indicate they were done in 1937 and they compare how far ship building had evolved. The earlier ship is a paddle steamer from the P&O Line called the William Fawcett. 206 tons and would have been quite an achievement for 1837. The latter is the P&Os Stratheden. 23,500 tons. Quite a big difference. Between the two was the Industrial Revolution of course. Both are behind glass and well preseved. Overall they are 40x32cm. A bit of maritime history here. This auction is for both prints
