A spectacular piece of extremely rare, and highly sought after hand painted Clarice Cliff (1899-1972).

Ridged surface Isis vase decorated with yellow banding borders the landscape pattern, which demonstrates iconic Clarice Cliff decorative motifs.

Bright and brilliant, the vase has been excellently preserved, and is in almost original condition - with only a few very minor spots/marks. There is a small circle of flecks underneath the rightmost (as photographed) orange flowers - I’m not sure if this is part of manufacture, or residue or some form. I don’t believe there is any history of repair.

Marked “Hand Painted Bizarre by Clarice Cliff, Wilkinson LTD England”

Not only rare to the New Zealand market, but extremely rare internationally, too - While I have found an example of a similar Lotus Jug, I cannot find another instance of a ridged Isis Vase selling in this pattern.

Clarice Cliff is amongst the most recognized names in ceramics, a designer that is especially renowned for her art deco designs. Her ceramic are extremely sought after all around the world - amongst the most collectable, the bizarre range.
