Description

Wrecked on 26 March 1921 on Inconstant Point, Wellington. A strong northerly gale raged, stirring up heavy seas. The “MAGIC”, was an auxiliary schooner-rigged scow (no. 102340) built by G.T. Nicole in Auckland in 1901. Her master, Captain McIntosh, and six crew abandoned ship as the conditions caused the Magic to founder. They made it to shore safely at Pencarrow Head in the ship’s boat.

The ship’s wheel was salvaged and mounted on a Rimu panel. It is a genuine shipwreck artifact made available to collectors. The wheel is battered, corroded and coated with verdigris. Its appearance revealing the tragedy that befell the scow on that fateful day in 1921.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of our nautical history.
