Description
This old brass steam locomotive oil syringe was issued to Mr L D Milton, Loco Depot, N.Z.R. in June 1947.
Lance "The Penguin" Milton, was eventually appointed Locomotive Supervisor at Te Rapa (Hamilton) and remained so until his retirement. My father knew him well.
He would have been issued with the syringe, a prized & treasured possession, by the New Zealand Railways as a fireman, in June of 1947.
It is very hard to get an item like this with known provenance.
