Description

The Route of the Coastal Pacific Express, by Geoffrey B. Churchman. Card covered book of 63 pages, published in 1989. This book is in very good condition.

This is the story of the northern part of the South Island Main Trunk – an 84 year effort to build one of the most difficult railway lines in New Zealand. The line stretches from north Canterbury hill country, along the Kaikoura Coast, to the varied scenic terrains of Marlborough. This book tells the story of the line with words, maps and many black and white and stunning colour photographs. It is a fascinating and colourful portrayal of the South Island’s most important railway. This book is the fourth New Zealand railway book by the author, all detailing various railway lines.
