This is a seat out of one of the old English Electric units that travelled the railway lines of Wellington. I can remember riding those old things into and out of Wellington as a child... ...and getting smacked for swinging the back to face backwards and forwards one time to many...

Sorry. Got nostalgic. Anyway, the seat requires support at one end, or can be secured to the side of a van or bus. It has been recovered some time in the 1990s, to judge by the design of the fabric.

The second photo shows not only the type of units the seats came from, but we're told they are THE units they came out of. They're part of a house down the road from us!
