Description
Date of manufacture for this lovely old grandfather clock varies between 1750 and 1790 depending on who you talk to, in other words, about when James Cook was sailing the South Pacific!
Fine all original Scottish oak and satin-birch cased grandfather clock by James Low of Arbroath. typical very elegant Scottish east coast case which is in original condition. Very good quality brass and silvered dial. During its life it had a happy tenure south in England as the inscription inside reads:
"I'm a fine old scotch clock, brought back from the south, in an Englishman's home I long tarried, where I stayed so gladly, where I left so sadly, but, from there, alas I was carried"
Then returned to Scotland, and now it has been lovingly transported to NZ.
The clock is in working order please see video of clock in action - if you wish to have it keep time then a tuner will be required to set the weights correctly to prevents bouncing of the second hand etc once it in place where it will sit.
