Bertrand catalogue value $4,200.
The original mintage was to be 500 coins, but only 100 were minted. Early in 2009 these were retailing at $1,750 at NZ post while the gold value was in excess of $1,900. An enterprising person purchased 10 of these and had them melted for their gold content. This leaves a mintage of only 90 coins making this New Zealand's rarest coin.
